Ventilator associated pneumonia

ICD10: Pneumonia, unspecified organism [J18.9]

Treatment: Empiric antibiotics; Gram Positive & MRSA Bacteria

Diagnostic criteria suggesting VAP: – New or expanding infiltrate >2 days post-admission/invasive ventilatory support. – 2 or more clinical features (fever, WBC, Purulent sputum Worsening oxygenation).


Goal:

  • Improving ventilator settings.
  • Decreasing oxygen requirement.
  • normalization of WBC.
  • No fever.
  • Stable vitals.
